Role Purpose

Save the Children seeks a Community Mobilization Officer for a USAID-funded Kizazi Hodari – Sothern Zone project in Tanzania. The Community Mobilization Officer will be responsible for developing guidance and training materials, monitoring implementation progress, identifying cascading solutions to improve service delivery, and sharing best practices. S/he will work closely with all team members including Community Case Workers/CHWs and Education Officers Supervising, mentoring, and providing technical support to LGAs and Community Case Workers/CHWs. The Community Mobilization Officer will be responsible for ensuring adequate community mobilization, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and girls’ support, counseling, and guidance of vulnerable children/groups at school and in the communitieshttps://allglobalupdates.com/job-vacancy-at-save-the-children.

S/he will establish and maintain close and effective liaisons with government partners at LGAs and communities to facilitate the flow of information, reports, and updates including staying abreast of current trends including participation in relevant nutrition working groups and policy foras at the regional and district level.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Technical

  • Responsible for mobilizing the communities in the USAID Kizazi hodari –Southern zones sites.
  • Facilitates effective participation of children, youths and women in the community and stakeholders in program activities.
  • Strengthening good working relationships with all stakeholders and holding regular meetings with these community-based structures.
  • Ensure that consent forms are signed by both parties i.e. Children, parents and guardians whenever Project activities involve children and young people
  • Coordinate Program activities and networking with the communities.
  • Establish good working relations with children, young people, community leadership, and community-based organizations (CBOs), government staff and other stakeholders at district and ward levels.
  • Regular interaction with community and school structures to strengthen collaboration and ensure safe return of children especially girls to school.
  • Track the participation of members in the groups by gender in terms of beneficiaries on quarterly basis
  • Ensure that all associates sign and adhere to Save the Children safeguarding Policy.
  • Carry out sensitization and gender awareness in the community.
  • He/she will work closely with the program team to document best practices and lessons learned of the project.

Operational

  • Provide timely and accurate written and verbal reporting.
  • Contribute to project strategic planning and to well-written, focused project reports, annual implementation plans, success stories and other written products.
  • Ensure high quality project implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Make regular field visits to monitor project quality and collect data.
  • Collaborate with MEAL staff to ensure that collection and analysis of community data is accurate, rigorous and incorporated into project implementation.
  • Coordinate with AGYW, Nutrition and HES Officers in work planning development and implementation
  • Participate in Regional technical working groups, district relevant meetings and liaise with other project implementing organizations.
  • Work closely with Regional and Council Community Health promotion units and community Development Officers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor in development Studies, social science or related discipline.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO or related field
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English required.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with community-level actors, stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Significant knowledge OVC and DREAMs programming and have experience in implementing SASA package
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations and independently.
  • Have problem identification & Problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity and understanding of donor policies and procedures is a plus.
