The Institute is conveniently located at Ringway, Osu, close to the centre of major businesses and Ministries of Government in Accra. It is a few minutes from the Parliament House, Accra Conference Centre, National Theatre, and main sports stadium, making it easy for students to cover a wide range of events.
Ghana Institute of Journalism Postgraduate ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Ghana Institute of Journalism, formerly The Ghana School of Journalism, was officially opened on Monday, 16th October, 1959, by the then Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Kofi Baako.
The school was established by the Kwame Nkrumah government to provide training in journalism toward the development of a patriotic cadre of journalists to play an active role in the emancipation of the African continent.
REGULAR PROGRAMMES
- MASTER OF ARTS IN JOURNALISM
- MASTER OF ARTS IN PUBLIC RELATIONS
- MASTER OF ARTS IN MEDIA MANAGEMENT
- MASTER OF ARTS IN DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION
These are 15 months intensive programmes based on the semester system. Lectures start at 4.00 p.m. each day, from Monday to Friday.
WEEKEND PROGRAMMES (Friday and Saturday)
- MASTER OF ARTS IN PUBLIC RELATIONS
- MASTER OF ARTS IN DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION
These are 15 months intensive programmes based on the semester system with lectures on Friday at 4.00pm and Saturday at 7.30 am.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from Ghana Institute of Journalism or any accredited/recognized University, with at least Second-Class Lower Division.
Or
A Bachelor’s degree in other Disciplines from any reputable University with at least Second-Class Lower Division.
- Pass an Entrance Examination and Selection Interview.
NOTE: Applicants from Non-English speaking countries must also have a minimum level of English Language Proficiency in the following: GSCE/O Level. IELTS and TOEFL.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students who hold equivalent qualifications are eligible to apply for any of the programmes.
