The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is the government agency responsible for conducting national examinations in Tanzania. NECTA was established in 1995 and is a statutory body under the Ministry of Education.
NECTA administers examinations in six subject areas: mathematics, natural sciences, English, Kiswahili, history, and geography. The organization also oversees teacher training and development, as well as the distribution of textbooks to schools nationwide.
