Private Candidate Registration Exercise
Registration Criteria
General requirements
You may register for the GCE-Level examinations as a private candidate if you satisfy the minimum age requirements for the respective examinations. You must not be studying in a Singapore Government/Government-aided/Independent/Specialised schools (e.g. Secondary School or Junior College) in the same examination year.
If you wish to register for Science subjects with laboratory-based components (e.g. Science Practical papers) you must have sat for the same Science subject previously. Otherwise, you must be attending or be slated to attend a course of instruction in Science practical at any institute/school.
You will be required to declare at the time of your registration that you have fulfilled the above requirements. If a false declaration is made, your registration for the Science subject with practical paper may be cancelled without a refund of the examination fees.
For some subjects such as GCE A-Level H2 Translation (Chinese), GCE A-Level H2 Further Mathematics and GCE O- and A-Level Mother Tongue Language Syllabus B, you will need to meet the subject requirements and pre-requisites before you can register for them. Please refer to their examination syllabuses for more information.

You may refer to the 2021 Instructions for Private Candidates Booklet as a guide on the maximum number of GCE N(T)-, N(A)-, O- or A-Level subjects that can be registered for. You have the discretion to decide what examinations you wish to register for. You may either choose to study on their own or enrol in a private institution to prepare for your examinations.
If you are a school candidate and wish to register for additional subjects, please seek approval from your school to register for subjects that not offered to you. Once the approval has been obtained, your school can assist you in registering for your requested subjects.
