On 19 April 1963, the Tanganyika Cabinet under President Julius K. Nyerere and Father of the Nation Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere saw fit to adopt nationwide youth-led TANU Youth Coalition Resolution that establishing JKT on 10 July 1963.first trained at Mgulani camp in Dar es salaam with a total of 11 youths from 11 different districts.
These young men were members of the youth union who had been sent to Yugoslavia by TANU to take up youth leadership training. Some of these young pioneers are Zany Kiango, Sam Chemengo, Bee Johnny Lwegarulira, Brown P. Kamba and Roy McCall.Ms. M. Mhando (Senior Guide), Bw. D. S. Msilu (Master), Mr ES Mwakyambiki, (Senior Master) and Mr AI Msonge (Master), Mr LM Mitande.
