Umalusi Appoints Panel To Investigate Matric Math Question; – A three-person independent panel has been constituted by Umalusi, the Quality Council for General and Further Education and Training, to look into the circumstances behind the inclusion of the “problematic” Question in the 2022 matric final Mathematics Paper 2.

On November 7, 2022, the National Senior Certificate exam was given.

Umalusi claimed on Monday that the panel was expressly tasked with looking into how the issue got past the examiners, internal moderators, and external moderators, and why it wasn’t discovered until the printing stage.

The focus is on the full value chain, or all the procedures that the question paper was put through during the stages of its preparation, quality assurance, and printing, according to a statement from Umalusi spokesperson Biki Lepota.

Professors Sudan Hansraj and Nic Heideman are among the three members of the panel, which is presided by by Penelope (Penny) Vinjevold.

Lepota stated that the panel’s responsibility is to conduct a thorough investigation and deliver a comprehensive report to Umalusi.

He stated, “The report will be made available to the public on January 16, 2023 during the media briefing on the permission of the release of the results of the 2022 examinations of the various assessment bodies.
