Tecno Camon 16 S will be powered by MediaTek Helio P22, which is a 12nm chipset from 2018 with eight Cortex-A53 cores (2.0 + 1.5GHz) and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU (650MHz). In this phone it is paired with 3GB of RAM and runs Android 10.
The screen resolution is 720 x 1600 pixels – that’s the maximum that the chipset supports. From the included image (which is not always 100% reliable), we see that the phone has a single hole punch camera in the upper left. Interestingly, there appears to be a front LED flash at the top edge (but again, these photos aren’t very reliable).
However, the screen is a far cry from Camon 16 Premiere’s 90Hz display at 1080p. The premiere is quite expensive, however, as much as $ 29,000 CAD in Kenya (where it debuted). That’s as much as $ 275 or so, depending on the currency exchange rates.
We don’t know yet the price of the Camon 16 S, but a similar Camon 15 Air (also powered by Helio P22) is around 15,000 Kenyan shillings ($ 140). Incidentally, the Air has a front flash with two separate LEDs on a wide range.
