Can I apply if I previously worked as a bus conductor or participated in the PYEI program?
Although former participants in the Youth Brigade and PYEI programs are welcome to apply, those who have not yet benefited from the program will be given preference. We want to provide as many young people with the chance to work and earn money and experience as we can.
What are a bus conductor’s responsibilities?
The primary duty of bus drivers is to guarantee that students are safe and secure when traveling from their homes to schools and vice versa.
- Control lines at pick-up locations
- When picking up students, check that the buses are clean.
- Submit reports on any instances of non-compliance
- Must also keep an eye on the condition of the buses’ tires, discs, and other safety-related components and notify the monitor or principal of any issues.
Is this chance limited to Gauteng?
Yes, only residents of Gauteng are eligible for this chance.
What will bus drivers be paid?
Your assigned school will send you a monthly compensation of R3500.
