Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML or Geita mine) is one of AngloGold Ashanti’s flagship mines, is located in North-Western Tanzania in the Lake Victoria goldfields in Geita region, about 120km from Mwanza City and 4km west of the township of Geita.

It has been in operation as a large-scale mine since 2000 but mining has taken place in the area since the 1930s. The Geita gold deposit is currently mined as a multiple open-pit and underground operation.

the Mineral Resource is at 7.92 million ounces. Approximately 1,555m of capital development was completed for the Star & Comet, Nyankanga, and Geita hill underground sections, to access new areas for stope mining and for further exploration in 2021.

JOB POSITION: Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting reports
  • Design and conduct metallurgical optimization test work and other short term metallurgical.
  • Develop and perform metallurgical sampling exercises and metallurgical instruments calibrations
  • Develop and monitor the plant operating parameters for optimal plant performance
  • Develop data log sheets and plant operating procedures as per metallurgical requirement
  • Monitor and optimize process plant reagents and consumables
  • Train metallurgical technicians and other to ensure they perform effectively
  • Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bsc metallurgly/Chemical Engineering or equivalent from a tertiary institution
  • At least 4 years hands on experience in Gold processing Plant
  • Registration with the Tanzania Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is added advantage
  • Skills with water treatment plants and general water balance Management
  • Strong computer skills including, Microsoft word, Excel, power Point and Database Management

JOB POSITION: Operator (19 Position)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Always act in manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GGM and ensure that the vital behaviours are always adhered to
  • Work safety in all areas, identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct hazards
  • Operates, inspects, and monitors (regular sampling and measurement) all processing plant
  • equipment relating to crushing, grinding and gravity, leach, and adsorption (CIL), elution,
  • regeneration kiln and reagents to achieve the highest possible ore recovery.
  • Identifying and diagnosing, where possible, items of the plant that require preventative
    maintenance or repair.
  • Clear blockages in materials-handling and transporting equipment
  • Clean, wash and maintain plant, equipment, and auxiliary systems
  • Safely isolate processing equipment for planned or unplanned shutdowns

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least a certificate of secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
  • Employees must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations and keep records
  • Possession of certificate or diploma in mineral processing will be added advantage if any
  • Computer literacy will be added advantage.

JOB POSITION: Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct supervision over the extraction, processing, storage and shipping of aggregate to point of use and oversee the Aggregate crushing
  • Read specification sheets for defining sizes of aggregate & Proportional of cement water required for batch of concrete
  • Ensure Extraction, processing stock-pilling, stock-pile reclamination and rehandling to ensure product remain within target specifications
  • Coordinates the engagement of CAF plant activities with underground mining to ensure uninterrupted production
  • Monitor and report on quality, identify variences and establish corrective action
  • Provide direct supervision over the extraction, processing, storage and shipping of Aggregate crushing
  • Direct and supervise the workers to achieve the set targets per specific KPI
  • Monitor cost and report deviations
  • Be able to work at minimum supervision
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Positive attitude toward work colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least Secondary School Education
  • High level education will be added advantage
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission light vehicle

JOB POSITION: Tradespersion –

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Routine inspection of a range of different Fixed Plant equipment to ensure they are
    functioning correctly.
  • Carrying out planned and unplanned (breakdowns etc.) maintenance tasks in an
    accurate and timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting faults and repairing equipment as needed
  • Report any lost or damaged tooling
  • Utilize all necessary permits where required
  • Tag out and report any unsafe equipment immediately
  • Report all incidents immediately and participate in investigations and remediation activities
  • Remove all scrap or left-over materials immediately and ensure good housekeeping in area of
  • responsibility.
  • Taking care of your own personal protective equipment (PPE)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Form IV Secondary Education with VETA Qualification Grade I or Full Technician certificate (FTC) in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3-5 years fitting experience the manafacturing, mining or any related similar industry with specific experience in the following equipment, Big crushers-gyrator/cone, Big mills- SAG/ball, Hydraulic drives- apron feeders etc, Pumps, Gearboxes

JOB POSITION: Tradeperson – Electrician (3 posts)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mini risk assessment – continuously think about and plan job before commencement
  • Always use correct tooling
  • Utilize all necessary permits where required
  • Tag out and report any unsafe equipment immediately
  • Report all incidents immediately and participate in investigations and remediation activities
  • Remove all scrap or left-over materials immediately and ensure good housekeeping in area of
    responsibility
  • Taking care of your own personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • All planned electrical work to be completed timeously and as planned – includes all
  • electrical distribution and switch gear equipment, transformers, MCCs, electrical
  • motors, lighting, and new installations
  • Conduct regular inspections on electrical equipment and infrastructure
  • Attend to and fix electrical faults and breakdowns (troubleshooting)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Form IV Secondary Education with VETA Qualification Grade I or Full Technician certificate (FTC) in Electrical Engineering
  • Two years and above experience in Mining processing plant or in industrial electricity
