Matric Pass Rate in the Free State (2016-2020) 

The Free State has held the number one spot in South Africa for the past few years. Despite the slight 3.3% drop from 88.4% to 85.1% last year, the Free State has 3 of the 10 top-performing districts in the country. Each of the 3 obtained a pass rate of over 85% respectively.

Matric Results 2022 Free State – How do I get Them?

With the ongoing matric exams, the last thing you need to worry about is figuring out how to check your results. Below are ways you can access them.

Online

If you attend a public or government high school, then your results will be on the Department of Basic Education’s website. You will need the following to log in:

  • Exam number
  • Home Language
  • Your personal details such as name, surname, etc.

If you attend an IEB school, you can access your results on their website. Keep in mind that website traffic will be high on the release date, so expect delayed response times.

The Matric Results 2022 Free State

Your School

A day after the initial results are announced, your school will give you your results. This is not an official matric certificate, it’s your statement of results per subject. You will be able to collect your printed official matric certificate a few months later. Your school will be able to provide you with exact dates.

The Newspaper 

The Matric Results 2021 Free State will be published in all major daily newspapers on the day that the results are released. It won’t be the full result, just whether or not you passed and what symbol you passed with. For example, B for Bachelor’s Passfor Diploma, etc.

Your Cell Phone 

You can register with your cell phone to receive your results by using one of two options.

  1. Via SMS 

Send your ID number and exam number to 35658. You will get a confirmation SMS once you have successfully registered. SMSes cost R1.50 and free SMSes don’t apply.

  1. USSD Service 

On the release date:

  • Dial *120*35658# 
  • Answer a few multiple questions.
  • Enter your ID number.
  • You will then get your matric results per subject

The Matric Results 2022 Free State

What do I Need to Pass? 

There are three pass levels for matric. Each level has its own set of requirements. The subjects that you need to have include your Home Language, a First Additional Language, Maths or Maths Literacy and Life Orientation. You also need either English or Afrikaans as one of your languages.

Bachelor’s Pass 

This pass will allow you to go on to study for a Bachelor’s Degree at a university. The requirements for a Bachelor’s pass are:

  • 40% for your Home Language
  • At least 50% for four other High Credit subjects
  • At least 30% for two other subjects

Diploma 

This level of pass allows you to study towards a Diploma after matric. You are only allowed to fail one subject. The requirements for a diploma pass are:

  • At least 40% in your Home Language
  • 40% in four other High Credit subjects
  • At least 30% for two other subjects

Higher Certificate 

These are the minimum requirements for passing matric. You may only fail one subject. The requirements to get a certificate pass are as follows:

  • 40% in your Home Language
  • At least 40% in four other high credit subjects
  • At least 30% for two other subjects
