According to the BBC and other media outlets, Her Majesty died this afternoon surrounded by her family, including Prince Charles and his children, Princes William and Harry.

News of the queen’s deteriorating condition started spreading earlier today after a statement from Buckingham Palace indicated she had been put on medical supervision.
The queen, who has had the crown for 70 years, now leaves behind four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren in total. Her first-born son Prince Charles now becomes the new King of England.

A statement from Buckingham Palace announcing her death read as follows:
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Born in London on April 21, 1926, the queen’s protracted reign witnessed enormous social change. Interestingly, she was not quite meant to be on the throne. Her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated the throne to marry an American divorcee in 1936.
Her father, George, being the second-born, thus took over the British throne, and he was king until his death in 1952. Went up a tree as a princess, came down as a queen of England The queen passed on a little over a year after her husband, Prince Philip, died in April 2021 at 99 years old. The two were married for 74 years.
