    Sharing airtime, sharing conversation

    As an MTN Contract, Anytime TopUp, Off-Peak TopUp or PayAsYouGo customer, you can purchase or transfer airtime, SMSs and internet bundles for any MTN PayAsYouGo, TopUp, Anytime TopUp or Off-Peak TopUp customer. There is no activation or subscription fee, and it is the ideal way to stay in touch with family and friends.

    • How to get it

      Dial 141 from your MTN cellphone and follow the voice prompts. This service will allow you to transfer airtime only

      Alternatively, dial *136*3# and follow the prompts or dial *136*6328*. This service will allow you to transfer airtime, SMS bundles, internet bundles and internet services. This service will allow you to transfer airtime only.

      MTN PayAsYouGo customer

      You can transfer airtime, SMS bundles and internet bundles from your MTN PayAsYouGo account to any other MTN PayAsYouGo, MyChoice TopUp, Anytime TopUp or Off-Peak TopUp customer. The value of the airtime or bundle transferred, will be deducted from your MTN PayAsYouGo airtime account.

      Any amount from R2 and above (in increments of R1) can be transferred (e.g., R3, R4, etc.)

      If there are funds available in your airtime expiry wallet then the transfer will be deducted from your expiry wallet, thereby allowing you to transfer more airtime. You cannot transfer promotional airtime (e.g., on-net airtime redeemed using loyalty points or additional airtime received as part of an MTN promotion, such as Mahala Thursdays, etc.)

      You will receive an SMS once the transfer has been completed to advise you of the details of the transaction and your remaining airtime balances.

      You can transfer up to R1 000 per day and R10 000 per month if you have sufficient airtime in your prepaid wallet. You can also receive up to R200 per day and R1 000 per month

      MTN hybrid customer (Anytime TopUp and Off-Peak TopUp)

      You can transfer prepaid airtime, SMS bundles and internet bundles from your MTN Anytime TopUp or Off-Peak TopUp account to any other MTN PayAsYouGo, MyChoice TopUp, Anytime TopUp or Off-Peak TopUp customer.

      You can only transfer prepaid airtime that you have loaded on your hybrid account. The value you transfer will never deplete your recurring value (e.g., if you are on an Anytime 100 TopUp package, you will not be able to transfer the R100.00 airtime or 25 SMSs you receive every month) So be sure to TopUp with prepaid airtime before doing a transfer.

      You cannot transfer promotional airtime (e.g., on-net airtime redeemed using loyalty points or additional airtime received as part of a MTN promotion, such as Mahala Thursdays, etc.)

      You will receive an SMS once the transfer has been completed to advise you of the details of the transaction and your remaining airtime balances.

      You can transfer up to R1 000 per day and R10 000 per month if you have sufficient airtime in your prepaid wallet.

      You can also receive up to R200 per day and R1 000 per month.

      Note that this service is only available to Anytime and Off-Peak TopUp subscribers and is not available to hybrid price plans such as MyChoice TopUp subscribers.

      MTN Contract customer

      You can purchase airtime for any MTN PayAsYouGo, MyChoice TopUp, Anytime TopUp or Off-Peak TopUp customer from your contract account.

      You will need to contact your service provider to register for the service to access MTN Me2U.

      You will be able to choose from one of six airtime options as listed below:

      MTN Me2U contract airtime options
      1 MTN Me2U: R25.00 limit per month
      2 MTN Me2U: R50.00 limit per month
      3 MTN Me2U: R100.00 limit per month
      4 MTN Me2U: R300.00 limit per month
      5 MTN Me2U: R500.00 limit per month
      6 MTN Me2U: R1 000.00 limit per month

      You will receive an SMS once the transfer has been completed to advise you of the details of the transaction and the amount of your MTN Me2U limit still available.

      The value you transfer will never deplete any of your bundles (minutes, SMS or value) and will be charged over and above your subscription.

      In addition, there is a daily transfer limit of R1 000.

      Requesting airtime

      MTN PayAsYouGo, MyChoice TopUp, Anytime TopUp and Off-Peak TopUp customers are allowed to send one free airtime request per day to an airtime sponsor. To request a transfer dial *136*3# and follow the prompts or dial *141*6328*(your sponsor’s MTN cellphone number)# to do an instant airtime request.

      General rules of MTN Me2U transfer

      No airtime transfer reversals can be made or airtime credits passed if you enter the incorrect amount or cellphone number that you are transferring to.

      Roaming

      The MTN Me2U service is not available to MTN roaming customers who want to send or receive MTN Me2U transfers.
