Kuhusu NMB Bank (About NMB Bank) History of NMB bank.

Initially, NMB Bank could only offer payment services as well as offering savings accounts, with limited lending capabilities, before becoming a fully qualified global retail bank.

In 2005, the government of the United Republic of Tanzania privatized the bank when it sold a portion of its stake (49%) to a consortium led by Coöperatieve Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank B.A. (“Rabobank Group”).

Later, there was further divestiture in 2008 when the Tanzanian government loaded another 21% of its stake to the Tanzanian public through an initial public offering (IPO). The listing of the bank’s shares on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange has diversified the ownership structure.
