Schedule of Registration

The schedule of online appointment for issuance of Professional ID and Certificate of Registration for the new Registered Criminologists (RCs) will be held on the following date(s):

Initial registrants are advised to register online via PRC official website via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and follow the steps in online registration. Here are the registration requirements:

  • Notice of Admission/NOA (for identification purposes only)
  • Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  • Two (2) pieces of passport-sized ID photos in white background and with complete name tag
  • Two (2) sets of documentary stamp
  • One (1) piece short brown envelope

PRC added that successful examinees shall personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Verification of Rating

The verification of ratings and test results for the Criminologist licensure exams given by PRC Board of Criminology will be available online few working days after the posting of results.

Successful takers can refer to PRC official website and use the Verification Page to know their board examination passing rate.

As posted, a passer shall only provide the exam name, the date of examination, the application number, first name and last name and the birth-date.

Oath-Taking Ceremonies

The oath taking ceremony for the newly Licensed Criminologists will be done online, now referred as the “e-oath”. The application system for the e-oath can be accessed online via PRC dedicated portal via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and  select “e-OATH” as transaction.

Inductees are required to print “OATH OF PROFESSIONAL” form that is downloadable at the PRC Online Services.

The June 2022 Criminology licensure exam covered the following topics:

  • Criminal Jurisprudence, Procedure And Evidence (criminal law book I, criminal law book II; criminal procedure, evidence and court testimony)
  • Law Enforcement Administration (police organization and administration with police planning, industrial security administration, police patrol operations with police communication system, police intelligence, police personnel and records management, comparative police system)
  • Criminalistics (personal identification, police photography, forensic ballistics, questioned documents examination, polygraph — lie detection, legal medicine)
  • Crime Detection And Investigation (fundamentals of criminal investigation, traffic management and accident investigation, special crime investigation, organized crime investigation, drug education and vice control , fire technology and arson investigation)
  • Sociology of Crimes and Ethics (introduction to criminology and psychology of crimes, Philippine criminal justice system, ethics and values, juvenile delinquency, human behavior and crisis management and criminological research and statistics)
  • Correctional  Administration (institutional corrections, non institutional corrections)

Criminology Board Exams Summary (Stats)

Criminology board exam is one of the programs with huge number of examinees conducted by PRC.

In the previous CLE held on December 2021, 11,610 out of 33,983 (34.16%) examinees successfully passed. Brenyl Doning Abilla from University of Mindanao – Tagum ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 90.75% followed by Benjamin Elegores Rinabor from Lake Lanao College, Inc. having 89.55. King’s College of Philippines Incorporated – Benguet was the top performing school having 98.97% overall passing rate.

During the November 2019 CLE, 19,191 out of 43,512 examinees passed. Fahadale Saripada Abbas from John Paul II College ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 91.20% followed by John Patrick Aguado Privado from Eulogio (Amang) Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology having 90.75%. Cavite State University was to top performing school having an overall passing rate of 98.78%.

In the CLE held on June 2019, 7,998 out of 20,797 (38.46%) examinees passed. John Bonrev Roi Villasin Rodas from Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation – Lucena City ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 90.50% followed by Alben Deposa Ponso from Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology having 90.10% and Rosanie Galve Bulacja from Bago City College garnering 89.95%. University of the Cordilleras (UC) was the top performing school having all of its examinees passed followed by Lipa City Colleges having 87.27% overall passing rate.

The Board of Criminology is composed of three members: Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer; all appointed by the Supreme Court En Banc for a term of four years without prejudice to reappointment by another appointment from any member thereof if qualified under Article VIII Section 2(1) and (2) of Republic Act No. 6975 otherwise known as “Bureau of Immigration Act” or its amendments, who have attained majority status in his profession

and a track record in teaching criminal law subjects at least ten years prior to their first appointment; or a member with at least twenty five years experience as trial judge in criminal courts having passed an attitude test administered by the Board itself before being confirmed by majority vote; who has been nominated for membership by his peers through letters from members stating that he belongs to their particular category/es

(i) academician; (ii) practitioner/solicitor-attorney; (iii) faculty member/administrator; and/or (iv) court staff with credentials showing at least fifteen years experience in legal service delivery before appointment shall be made through competitive examination held annually which shall include psychometric tests for those applying under Category II above but not necessarily limited thereto since other factors could also be considered like academic records etcetera so long as these do not conflict with constitutional provisions on equality among men regardless race color creed sex age political belief religious affiliation status or social class.”
