Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania (AKES, T) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Head of School – National Curriculum. This role is pivotal in steering the school towards becoming a premier institution in Dar es Salaam, known for its academic excellence, robust co-curricular programs, and a culture that emphasizes ethics, values, pluralism, spirituality, and excellence.
Position Summary
The Head of School will have overall responsibility for all school-related matters, including financial management, hiring, admissions, discipline, evaluation, and academic affairs. This role requires final sign-off at the school level in line with the set approval matrix through the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) before submission to the Head Office (HO).
The ideal candidate will be an ethical and moral leader who can enhance the school’s market positioning by improving academic, co-curricular, sports, and leadership programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery and Tracking: Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the curriculum.
- Student Tracking and Support: Oversee student progress and provide necessary support.
- Exam Conduct and Results Analysis: Manage the administration of exams and analyze results to inform improvements.
- Staff Management, Appraisals, and Professional Development: Lead and develop the school staff through regular appraisals and professional growth opportunities.
- Student Discipline: Maintain and enforce discipline within the school.
- Budgeting and Finance: Oversee budgeting processes, including fee collections.
- Parental and Community Relations: Foster strong relationships with parents and the community.
- School Operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the school.
- Special Needs and Relevant Academic and Extra-Curricular Programs: Develop and implement programs catering to special needs and other relevant academic and extracurricular activities.
Position Requirements
- Must be a citizen of Tanzania.
- In-depth knowledge of the Tanzania National Education System.
- Extensive experience with NECTA school systems, processes, and procedures.
- Master’s degree in Education.
- Over 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position in NECTA secondary schools (both O & A Levels).
- Proven consistency in schoolwork performance and national results.
- Demonstrated track record in leadership, strategic planning, and NECTA education administration.
