Kipsang’s breakthrough came in 2011 when he won the 10,000-meter race at the Kenyan National Championships. He went on to represent Kenya at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, where he finished in sixth place.

In 2012, Kipsang made his debut in the marathon at the Rotterdam Marathon, finishing in second place. He followed this up with a win at the Frankfurt Marathon later that year, setting a personal best time of 2:04:57.

Over the next few years, Kipsang continued to dominate in the marathon, winning the London, New York, and Tokyo marathons. He also represented Kenya at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he finished in third place.
