M1 Pro
The M1 Pro has up to 32GB of unified memory, 200GB/s of memory bandwidth, up to 10 CPU cores, and up to 16 GPU cores. It has a 16-core Neural Engine, a media engine that supports ProRes encode and decode, and it supports H.264 and HEVC.
Multiple professional apps can be run simultaneously on M1 Pro with ease. Both GPU-driven operations like 3D visualizations and processing video effects and CPU-intensive chores like photo editing and code compilation can be handled by it. The Neural Engine accelerates machine learning tasks, while the specialized media engine supports up to 20 streams of 4K ProRes 422 video playback. Up to two external screens can be supported by the M1 Pro.
M1 Max
Even more potent than M1 Pro, M1 Max. It has a 10-core CPU and up to 32 GPU cores, and its memory bandwidth doubles from M1 Pro to 400GB/s. A 16-core Neural Engine and a more sophisticated media engine with support for H.264 and HEVC as well as ProRes encoding and decoding with improved playback capabilities are included.
You can also customize your MacBook Pro with up to 64GB of unified memory using M1 Max. When working with really huge data, such as augmented reality models, music compositions with extensive virtual instrument libraries, or 8K video timelines, this can significantly enhance performance.
M1 Max is ideal for graphics-intensive workflows like multicam video editing or creating complex 3D scenarios thanks to its extra GPU capability. Up to seven streams of 8K ProRes 422 video can be played back using its potent media engine. M1 Max also supports up to four external displays.
