Levy began his career as a member of the Toronto Second City comedy troupe in the 1970s. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout his career, including the American Pie films, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind. He has also lent his voice to animated films and television shows, such as the animated series Robot Chicken.
In 2015, Levy and his son Dan Levy created and starred in the television series Schitt’s Creek, which aired on the CBC in Canada and on Pop TV in the United States. The show became a critical and commercial success, and Levy received numerous awards for his performance, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Levy is also known for his work as a writer, producer, and director, and has been nominated for numerous awards for his work in these roles. He has been recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2020, he was inducted into the Order of Canada, one of the highest civilian honors in the country.
