REGISTRATION FOR ONLINE SERVICES On the homepage of the site, a user will be prompted to select the option to “register” or “login”. A new or first time user must select the “register” option, which will direct the user through a process of registration and require the user to provide a unique username and password.

Once the user has selected a username and password, the user will be required to provide certain information and personal details.  Once the aforementioned details have been provided and the registration process has been completed successfully, the Virtual Post Office will confirm the username and password in an email to the user, which username and password will be required for login purposes whenever the user wishes to gain access to the site.

The South African Post Office is committed to ensuring that any personal information submitted on the site is treated with the utmost privacy and that it has reasonable safeguards in place to protect user’s personal information when such information is submitted, accessed, stored or handled on the site. The South African Post Office collects and stores user information only for the purposes of delivering the Online Services and applies the strictest standards to protect user privacy.

Once registered for the Online Services, the South African Post Office will use reasonable efforts to keep accurate records in respect of the personal information provided by users from time to time. The South African Post Office will provide users access to their personal information to view and/or update personal details.

Upon request, the South African Post Office will remove a user’s personal information from our records, provided that a user has verified its identity to the South African Post Office. The South African Post Office undertakes never to sell or make available users’ personal details to any third party unless we are compelled to do so by law.  In particular, in the event of a fraudulent online payment, the South African Post Office, reserves the right to disclose relevant personal information for criminal investigation purposes or in line with any other legal obligation for disclosure of the personal information which may be required of it.

The site may utilise “Cookies”, web beacons and other technologies for data analysis and potential personalisation of the site and Online Services to better serve users with more customised information when users return to the site. “Cookies” are used to enhance user’s interactive experience and generally improve the Online Services to users.

These technologies may be used to store and collect information relating to the user’s use of the site.
