BA Hons in Public and International Affairs – (First Semester of 2023)

Masters in Public & International affairs

The school proposes to offer Two variants of the masters degree

BY RESEARCH (2020) – The programme offers an MA via research leading to a dissertation of around 120 pages. The dissertation is prepared for examining under the guidance of a supervisor with expertise aligning with a student’s choice of topic. The topic must align with the seven programmes of study identified by the TM-SCHOOL, that is, Urban and Regional Affairs; Peace and Development; Citizenship and Development; Simulation and Futuristic Studies;  Leadership Studies;  Security and Intelligence Studies

BY COURSEWORK (First Semester of 2023) – An advanced study programme by coursework, plus a minor dissertation are required

PHD

Students are required to research, write and present a full thesis under Specialist supervision in the following areas of study:

  • Leadership Studies
  • Peace and Development
  • Simulation and Future Studies
  • Urban and Regional Affairs
  • Citizenship and Development
  • Feminism and Gender Studies

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

BA Hons in Public and International Affairs – (First Semester of 2023)

  • A Degree with a major in Social Sciences and a final course mark of at least 65% in the particular discipline
  • Due to the transdisciplinary nature of Public and International Affairs applicants from Cognate Disciplines are encouraged, and will be processed through the University’s Recognition of Prior Learning committee

Masters in Public & International affairs

  • An appropriate Bachelor degree Hons or BA at level 8 (in a cognate discipline) with an average of 65% or more
  • Applications through RPL process will be considered

PHD

  • A Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs and a final course mark of at least 65%.
  • Due to the transdisciplinary nature of the field, applicants (for the PhD) from Cognate disciplines are encouraged.
  • Alternative admissions can be done in consultation with Unisa RPL Process
