The launch of TARURA was followed by an announcement in Government Gazette No. GN 211 of 12 May 2017.
The Prime Minister directed TARURA to reject the massive bribery that is involved in bidding processes, especially on road projects. “Only competent contractors should be hired to execute road projects through competitive bidding,” the Prime Minister said. He also directed TARURA to address the poor management of construction contracts between Contractors and the Authority in road projects, emphasizing transparency in all public works contracts.

Ed. The resident warned some district council leaders who were accused of changing the money allocated for road projects to other projects, said the money should be used for planned projects.
He said that TARURA will facilitate improvements to the network of rural and urban roads, enabling people to transport crops and other items from villages to urban areas.
“The new agency is key to enhancing agricultural production by facilitating the export of crops to the market. It will also be vital for our economic growth,” he said, adding that TARURA will help change people’s lives, reduce risks and spend time on the road.
